As above, so below—seen on the expanded microscopic and baum level, the taxonomic tribe of boomslang parasite scales present patterns of “S” shaped striking poses when confronted and cornered, inflating its neck parasitizing around the hyphae of pathogens by various means such as swimming, coiling, penetrating through to secrete lyase to decompose the cell wall. The venomous contact zone of an adult boomslang has 1.6 to 8 mg of hemotoxin, and has been observed to cause hemorrhage into tissues such as muscle and brain. As a reclusive snake, bites generally occur with its maxillary teeth only when people attempt to handle, catch, or kill the being. Monovalent antivenom has been developed since the 1940s, by the South African Vaccine Producers for use in boomslang envenomations. To combat the poison, fungal endophytes are introduced as an endosymbiont, often a bacterium or fungus, that lives within a plant body for at least part of its life cycle without causing apparent disease, disrupting its colonized state back to a centered body.
